Job Details

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Attend scheduled planning meetings with the Director.

2. Prepare and submit weekly lesson plans to the Director.

3. Give close attention to each child`s needs in learning, eating, toileting, sleeping, playing, working, health care, and safety.

4. Maintain progress records on each child and discuss problems and progress with the Director and the parents.

5. Prepare orders for supplies, materials, and classroom repairs and forward them to the Director in a timely manner.

6. Provide appropriate learning experience for children using best methods of early childhood teaching. Encourage making choices, exploration and discovery within acceptable limits. Make provision for each child to experience some success each day.

7. Maintain in confidence all information concerning children, parents, relatives, or guardians.

8. Discipline children using guidelines established by the Preschool Committee.

9. Cooperate with the other staff, Director, and families of children.

10. Attend at least two workshops, courses, or continuing education programs per year.

11. Obtain First Aid training and certification and keep familiar with fire and emergency escape plans. 

12. Maintain a standard of cleanliness and order in the room conductive to safety and well-being.

13. Participate in special school programs, such as, Open House, Preschool Sunday, Christmas program and Graduation. 

Minimum Qualifications:

1. The Teacher must be a Christian and active member of a Christian church.

2. BA Degree in childhood development plus six (6) months experience working in early childhood programs;

OR

Post-secondary credential in child development associate program and one (1) year supervised teaching experience in early childhood programs;

OR 

BA Degree in elementary education plus six (6) months experience in early childhood programs;

OR 

BA Degree in any field from an accredited college or university plus six (6) months experience working in early childhood programs. 

3. Ability to life a minimum of 40 pounds.
