REPORTS TO:              Director, Program & Partnerships

DEPARTMENT:            Programs

DIRECT REPORTS:       n/a

FLSA STATUS:              Contract/Consultant (20 hour per week)

ANNUAL SALARY:       $20-$25 per hour

LOCATION:                    Hawaii 

Summary   

The Program Coordinator serves as member of the Program Team of PeerForward charged with supporting the implementation of the High School program in Hawaii. This includes providing support for up to 5 - 8 Peer Leader teams and school partners to ensure high quality events management and implementation of PeerForward`s program and services. Supervised by the Director of Strategic Partnerships, the Program Coordinator will support the Peer Leader teams in 5 – 8 High Schools across two islands – Oahu and The Big Island in Hawaii.

Responsibilities  

  • Lend support to the Director of Strategic Partnerships in managing a caseload of up to 5-8 high schools on in effective programmatic implementation required for partner school sites to:
    • Drive more students to complete actions that drive post-secondary awareness, enrollment, and persistence 
    • Ensure optimal utilization of the PeerForward Method, technology and tools 
  • Build and sustain positive working relationships with school/district/community partners in Hawaii 
  • Work with the Director to provide logistical and events management support to coordinate trainings and monthly meetings. 
  • Manage event local logistical needs such as catering, securing venues, invitations, serving as logistics liaison
  • Support the program team with recruiting of local workshop staff, volunteers and alumni

Qualifications/Requirements 

The ideal candidate should have an interest in and/or basic understanding of the college application and admissions process and/or events management. This person should also have a strong customer service approach to collaboration and partnerships. While no one person will enumerate the qualifications below, the ideal candidate will possess many of the following professional and personal abilities, attributes, and experiences: 

  • Bachelor`s Degree preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Positive rapport with students; youth facilitation skills a plus
  • Some knowledge and/or interest in working within the local/national college access community 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate relevant material to educators and educational coordinators and leaders
  • Strong time management, task execution, organizational, interpersonal, presentation and writing skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively (virtually or in-person) in an innovative and entrepreneurial work environment
  • Willingness and the ability to travel monthly between Oahu and The Big Island
  • Enthusiasm for PeerForward`s mission of helping low-income students enroll and persist in college  
  • Detail-oriented self-starter and team player
  • Organized and capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines

The employee is frequently required to see, talk, hear, walk, and sit.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 20 lbs. such as boxes, supplies, etc.
