Position Summary: As the Korean-Speaking Coordinator at Evergreen Adult Day Care in Honolulu, Hawaii, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our Korean-speaking participants receive culturally sensitive care and support. Your responsibilities will include program coordination, translation, interpretation, and outreach efforts within the Korean-speaking community, all aimed at enhancing the well-being and happiness of our senior participants in this stunning island environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Cultural Sensitivity: Foster an inclusive and culturally sensitive environment for our Korean-speaking participants, respecting their customs and traditions while appreciating the unique Hawaiian and Korean cultures present in Honolulu.

Translation and Interpretation: Serve as a linguistic bridge by translating documents, interpreting conversations, and facilitating clear communication between our Korean-speaking participants and our staff.

Program Coordination: Plan and coordinate culturally relevant activities, events, and programs that celebrate the diverse heritage of both Hawaiian and Korean cultures, tailored to the interests and needs of our senior participants.

Outreach and Engagement: Collaborate with local Hawaiian and Korean community organizations, religious institutions, and groups to expand our reach and connect with potential participants.

Individual Support: Provide one-on-one assistance to participants, helping them with paperwork, applications, and access to social services, ensuring their unique needs are met within the context of Hawaii.

Advocacy: Be an advocate for the rights and needs of our Korean-speaking participants, both within our center and in the broader Hawaiian and Korean communities.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of interactions, program attendance, and participant feedback in both English and Korean.

Qualifications:

• Fluency in both English and Korean, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
• Deep cultural sensitivity and respect for both Hawaiian and Korean cultures.
• Experience in working with seniors or within the field of senior care is highly desirable.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
