Regular, Part-Time (75% FTE), Limited-Term (not to exceed twelve (12) months in duration), RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the E Kūkulu Ke Kahua a Pa‘a: Building the Foundation Until Firm project at Kaua‘i Community College, located in Līhu‘e, Hawai‘i. Telework (from employee`s residence city and state) may be permissible subject to review and approval by Principal Investigator and RCUH. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws. 

MONTHLY SALARY RANGE:  $2,609.25 - $4,775.25/Mon. (@ 75% FTE)

DUTIES:  Works closely with the grant management team for the E Kūkulu Ke Kahua a Pa‘a: Building the Foundation Until Firm project. Provides ongoing mentorship and coaching and creates related materials for K-12 mathematics teacher participants through scheduled and as-needed individual sessions, and group sessions for each of the participating K-12 schools during the school year to meet grant objectives. Through individual meetings and group sessions with participating teachers, develops, implements, and evaluates individualized mathematics teacher professional development plans in adherence to grant objectives. The position encourages interest, engagement, retention, and success of all K-12 mathematics teacher participants while serving as a valuable resource for trouble-shooting challenges when applying learned mathematics pedagogical content knowledge throughout the school year. While working with K-12 teacher participants, the position will ensure strict adherence to approved Institutional Review Board (IRB) project protocols. The position will also attend monthly management team meetings and assist the grant project coordinator, PI, and co-PIs with necessary documentation and data collection. Drives to participating schools to conduct training sessions and activities. Work hours will be flexible to accommodate professional development needs of the participating teachers. Will require travel to and within Kauai approximately twice per month. 

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: 

EDUCATION

Bachelor`s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Mathematics or related field.

EXPERIENCE

Three to five (3-5) years of experience in educational coaching and mentoring. Includes experience teaching mathematics at multiple grade levels; developing and constructing mathematics assessments; monitoring student progress and making appropriate adjustments to improve student learning as well as differentiated instruction; giving presentations and facilitating meetings, and working in the classrooms with teachers and students. Demonstrated evidence of continuing professional development in the area of mathematics instruction, and experience in serving native Hawaiian and local student populations.

KNOWLEDGE

Proficient knowledge in word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, and database programs. Strong working knowledge of prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines and to anticipate problems. Strong working knowledge of working as an effective team and team member.

ABILITIES & SKILLS

Proficient ability to be accurate, detail-oriented, and possess effective verbal and written communication skills. Proficient ability for organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and in a diverse team. Ability to generate narrative reports to show completion of grant`s objectives. Must possess a valid driver`s license (and if use of personal vehicle on the job is required, must also have valid personal driver`s insurance equivalent to Hawai‘i`s No-Fault Driver`s Insurance) and maintain throughout the duration of employment. Ability to effectively conduct work remotely (e.g., telework) as applicable. Post Offer/Employment Condition:   Must be able to complete the UH Title IX training within twelve (12) months from date of hire. Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months.   

POLICY/REGULATORY REQUIREMENT

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:   

Master`s Degree from an accredited college or university. Experience with grant management, managing budgets and programs, and working with grant personnel. Accounting experience. Experience with the Hawai‘i Department of Education system in relation to teacher training and professional development. Knowledge of NSF grant regulations, IRB protocols, and State procurement regulations.
