Regular, Full-Time, RCUH (Limited-Term, not to exceed two (2) years in duration), Non-Civil Service position with the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST), Physical Plant Support Facility (PPSF), located in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws. 

MONTHLY SALARY RANGE:  $2,914 - $3,000/Mon.

DUTIES:  Under supervision, utilizes various hand tools and power equipment to assist with the set-up and upkeep of research laboratories and workspaces in SOEST. All work must conform to the precise standards of laboratory research settings. Works with supervisor to provide support to research projects, as needed, for specialized research equipment. Participates in the moving of office and laboratory equipment, including transporting equipment between various SOEST worksites and SOEST research facilities. 

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

Up to one (0-1) year of experience that demonstrates commitment to learning new skills.

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of basic practices and methods in using common tools, equipment, and materials used in carpentry, plumbing, and painting.

ABILITIES & SKILLS

Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and directions. Must have good communication skills. Ability to use various hand tools and power equipment to conduct and perform repair work under supervision. Must have a strong work ethic and must be able to work well with others. 

PHYSICAL/MEDICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to lift and carry seventy-five (75) pounds (assisted).

POLICY/REGULATORY REQUIREMENT

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:    

Experience with bulk waste or e-waste management. Experience in building maintenance in a research setting to include maintenance and repair work incidental to carpentry, plumbing, painting, and masonry.
