The Non Congregate Shelter (NCS) Manager provides oversight for NCS operations and supports the delivery of Red Cross services to clients.  Additionally, this position ensures that NCS lodging coordinators and NCS Site managers have compassionate and professional interaction with clients and hotel operators to ensure their needs are met. This position is responsible for ensuring clear and concise communication between all stakeholders.

This position is located in Kahului, Maui.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):    

  • Serves as a single point of contact between the operation and the Virtual Lodging Team.
  • Communicate situational awareness, concerns, and other issues to Mass Care Chief and/or DRO leadership to assist in addressing the gaps in service delivery.
  • Proactively anticipate and address the needs of the NCS team.
  • Attend all required DRO meetings (DRO All Hands, Operations/Mass Care Team, etc.).
  • Support Mass Care Chief/Lead with leading Mass Care calls.
  • Ensures all required client data has been entered and/or updated in the SCIA.
  • Coordinates with Client Lodging Coordinator and VLT for tracking of all hotels, room assignments/changes, check-in and check-out dates including vacant rooms.
  • Certain responsibilities may vary depending on assignment: work site visits, field coverage days off.

Standard Schedule:

This is a temporary assignment expected to last 3 months to one year.

Work hours are 12 hours per day 6 days per week.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications): 

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience with social services or service/program delivery.

Management experience: N/A

Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft applications and other web-based systems.

A valid drivers license is required.

Physical requirements may include the ability to sit or stand for long periods and adapt to long, irregular hours, and frequent schedule changes are required.


  • Must be able to provide compassionate care for clients with diverse needs and backgrounds.  
  • Demonstrate time management for daily completion of all tasks for all clients. 
  • Good organizational and active listening skills.
  • Ability to stay calm in chaotic situations.  
  • Ability to manage and supervise more than 5 workers at a time.
