Environmental Technician (Full-Time)
Entry-level, Mid-level
Salary: $40,000 - $50,000 (annual) based on applicant qualifications
The Environmental Technician performs project fieldwork (e.g., collecting soil, water, petroleum product, and other media samples; field documentation; and subcontractor oversight).
A successful candidate must be able to perform with the physical and mental demands of:
- Working outdoors in variable weather conditions
- Working with hazardous substances, in confined spaces or in remote areas
- Sitting, standing, and walking
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of supplies or equipment up to 50 pounds
- Working off-island for extended periods, as directed
- Being detail-oriented
- Working effectively in a busy field or office environment and working with deadlines
- Working cooperatively with others
- Working with minimal supervision
- Personal and professional discretion and judgment in all matters
- Executing safe work practices at all times
- Have a valid driver's license and vehicle
Desired experience but not required:
- Knowledge of OSHA safe work practices
- Haz Mat training and experience (lead-based paint, asbestos, fuel systems)
- Basic knowledge of operating and maintaining field and industrial equipment
- Good decision-making, problem-solving, and time management skills
- Knowledge of basic scientific and technical principles
- Operational knowledge of Office 365 applications (specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook)
