Job Details

Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Service Manager, with little or no supervision, the employee shall perform highly skilled work in the repairing, reconditioning, testing, installing and adjusting of all equipment sold by Starr & Company, Inc. Various types of equipment that our technicians work on are air compressors, air dryers, boilers, burners, hot water heaters, hoists and cranes. On the job training will be offered and in some instances mandatory. Starting pay will depend on experience and knowledge of industry. This position will require some travel (company paid).

Essential Functions:

1. Remove, install, recondition, repair industrial equipment and make necessary adjustments as well as to the components in the various systems, such as water pumps, fuel pumps, compressors, coolers, and electronic controls.
2. Perform diagnostic tests on industrial equipment.
3. Trouble shoot, repair, install, recondition electrical controls, electronic controls, and power supply from low voltage DC to high voltage AC.
4. Must be able to meet flat rate as established by industry standards.
5. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Education, Experience, and Skill Required:

1. Must have a High School diploma or have a GED.
2. Must read, write, and speak English.
3. Must own hand tools that are suitable to perform the work noted above.
4. Must have a valid Hawaii Drivers License, with good driving record.
5. Must be forklift certified or able to be certified within 60 days of hire.
6. At least 2-3 years of experience preferred.

Physical Demands:

1. Walking:  Moves on foot often.  Sometimes up and down stairs.
2. Handling:  Seizes, helps or works with hands.
3. Lifting:  Raises or lowers miscellaneous equipment and components to 70 lbs.
4. Reaching:  Extends hands and arms in any direction.
5. Stooping:  Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist.
6. Standing:  Remains in standing position, if required to perform various functions of the job.
7. Vision: Read computer and paperwork.
8. Talking:  Communications by phone and in person.

Environmental Conditions:

1. Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.
2. Temperature & Weather:  Works in interior and exterior environments.
