JOB TITLE:  Direct Care Counselor

PAY RATE: $17 per hour

JOB OVERVIEW: 

Provide direct care and supervision to youth according to the foundation`s policies and procedures, licensing and accreditation requirements.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise activities for residents that will increase their cultural awareness and enhance their self-esteem;
  • Work with the Lead Direct Care Counselor to oversee residents in their day to day routines in the house;
  • Assist in the delivery of services, and activities for the residents in the program;
  • Review and summarize miscellaneous reports and documents; 
  • Prepare documents and reports as necessary.

OTHER DUTIES:

As assigned by Program Director or direct supervisor..

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent, and experience working with youth required;
  • AA or BA degree in social work or related field preferred;
  • Must have a valid driver's license, a safe and responsible driving record;
  • Must participate in Child Abuse and Neglect, State criminal and FBI criminal clearances, and subsequently meet DHS standards regarding these clearances;
  • Must have current CPR/First Aid certification that will be updated annually;
  • Must have current Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification that will be updated annually;
  • Must have current TB test completed that will be updated annually;
  • Must pass a physical examination requirement.

WORK HOURS:

  • Sunday through Saturday, work hours vary depending on program needs or otherwise determined by the supervisor;
  • Position requires regular and predictable attendance;
  • Some events on evenings or weekends at various times.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Office setting; 
  • Travel in program and/or personal vehicle to and from program sites.
