Teacher Assistant and After School Care Provider

Hale Keiki School is seeking a DEPENDABLE TEACHER ASSISTANT. We are looking for committed, flexible, competent, and wonderful people who enjoy and are excited about working with fantastic children in a great school with terrific staff, students, and parents.

Hale Keiki School TA/ASC Responsibilities:

An hourly position which directly supports an instructional teacher. Teacher assistants follow the lead of the teacher and support the teacher as dictated. Teacher assistants are expected to be directly involved with the students during class time and at recess. The assistant must have sincerity and loyalty toward the teacher and classroom. He/she must be responsible and be able to follow instructions, school policies, and operational procedures as set forth by the administration and the Board of Governors as well as work harmoniously and cooperatively with others in a professional manner.  

Other duties include:

• Provide safe, educational and nurturing environment for each child always supporting our high standards of academic, social and emotional literacy.
• Plan, organize, and implement, developmentally appropriate activities for students.
• Discuss and coordinate with morning teacher`s regular classroom curriculum to reinforce afternoon activities.
• Write clear and concise notes to parents.
• Fill out incident reports.
• Help with school functions as directed.
• Write monthly newsletters and plans.
• Complete monthly safety checklists and practice monthly fire drills.
• Supervise children.
• Monitor loading zone area in parking lot between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.    (Prekindergarten-Sixth Grade) Greet children and assist opening car doors. Leave loading zone area promptly at 8:00 a.m. to report to assigned classroom. 
• Work with children in small groups assisting in the instruction, supervision, and nurturing of children. 
• Monitor classroom cleanliness.
• Meet with classroom teacher on a regular basis – a minimum of once a week to stay informed as well as provide input on upcoming activities, units, etc. Provide feedback on observations made in class regarding children, lesson, etc. Provide input on student assessments and evaluations. 
• Assist Teacher in setting up centers and preparing for activities and other responsibilities assigned.

Salary: $17.00-$23.00/hour based on education and experience
