POSITION TITLE: ACCOUNTING MANAGER

DEPARTMENT:  FINANCE

FUNCTION 

Responsible for the successful execution of the monthly and annual closing and reporting processes as well as daily accounting functions and general ledger. Responsible for the areas of General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable (including cash receipt). Primary resource for payroll and employee benefits administration and supporting role in the areas of budgeting, forecasting and management reporting. Provide analytical support and insight to all levels of the accounting and financial functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Maintain the Fixed Assets and associated depreciation schedules; prepare and post related journal entries; insure proper recording of new purchases and disposals.
  • Enter and process biweekly payroll.
  • Assist in the Health and Benefits administration, including managing open enrollment.
  • Assist in administrating 401(K) and other employee benefit programs.
  • Prepare monthly cash-flow analysis.
  • Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with U.S. GAAP, and accepted policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate and complete monthly and year-end closing procedures.
  • Analyze revenues and expenses to ensure accuracy and completeness and ensure balance sheet accounts are reconciled.
  • Prepare monthly and year-end account reconciliations.
  • Prepare and post monthly and year end closing journal entries.
  • Assist with analyzing financial statements report on variances.
  • Assist with preparation of the annual budget.
  • Assist with financial audit preparation and coordinate the audit process.
  • Assist with preparing corporate reporting requirements.
  • Assist in tracking and maintaining company insurance policies.
  • Assist in documentation and financial monitoring of internal controls.
  • Manage the effectiveness and efficiency in delivering the supervised accounting functions.

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Responsible for implementing, revising, and developing, if necessary, HBR in-house policy and guidelines to ensure compliance to changing regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

SCOPE OF POSITION:

  • Reports to Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
  • Contact with vendors, members, and staff

REQUIRED SKILLS AND qualifications:

  • 4-year College Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years accounting/finance experience
  • Highly detail oriented and organized in work
  • Ability to meet assigned deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from CFO to accomplish objectives
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results.
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds
