Recruitment Number 26-215JC, Appellate Court Clerk II (Supreme Court), SR-22C ($5,555 per month) to SR-22M ($8,218 per month), Honolulu, Oahu. The starting salary may be at a rate between the minimum to maximum salary range listed above, basedon qualifications.
Supervises and participates in Appellate Court Clerk work; plans, coordinates, schedules and prepares all ready cases for court; reviews appellate court documents to determine compliance with court orders and rules, to summarize and digest principal points of legal documents to facilitate court action, recommend disposition of procedural motions, and to recommend routine judicial sanctions against attorneys to the Chief Justice or his/her designee.
Education Requirement: Graduation from high school. Excess experience of the type and quality described below or work experience requiring the ability to read, comprehend, and apply written directions, or a high degree of verbal skill may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. General Experience: Two (2) years progressively responsible general clerical work experience. Specialized Experience: Five (5) years of court work experience which included work dealing with the preparation of legal and/or court documents and forms. Of the five (5) years of Specialized Experience at least one (1) year of work experience must have involved the preparation of court documents and forms for an appellate court which included opinions, decisions, and sanction orders. Such experience must have also included the checking of citations and references, and summarizing and digesting legal document information. OR Of the five (5) years of Specialized Experience at least two (2) years of work experience must have involved the preparation and/or processing of court documents and forms for a circuit court. Such experience must have been comparable to the work performed at the Courts Document Clerk, Circuit Court Clerk II, or Estate and Guardianship Specialist levels and included summarizing and digesting legal document information. Typing Skill Requirement: Type at a rate of 40 net words per minute. Supervisory Aptitude: Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successfully completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by serving as a group or team leader, or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capabilities exist; by completion of training course in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; or by favorable appraisals by a supervisory indicating the possession of supervisory potential.
