Site Safety & Health Officer
The Site Safety and Health Officer implements procedures to prevent and eliminate injury and illness to employees and assist the company to comply with safety laws, and maintains compliance of various construction Project Sites.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Site Safety Program Development: Develop and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies in strict compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Ensure alignment with industry best practices to elevate safety standards.
- Site Inspections: Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and unsafe practices. Implement corrective actions promptly to mitigate risks and maintain a safe working environment.
- Safety Training: Identify and implement necessary safety training programs needed for the project. Monitor training compliance and effectiveness, making improvements as needed.
- Incident Investigation: Lead investigations of safety incidents, near misses, and accidents. Determine root causes and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with safety regulations and industry standards, including OSHA and EPA requirements. Ensure full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Safety Audits: Conduct monthly onsite safety audits and assessments of project site. Identify areas for improvement and track progress toward enhanced safety performance.
- Emergency Response: Develop and maintain comprehensive emergency response plans. Conduct drills and exercises to ensure team readiness for emergency situations.
- Safety Communication: Foster a culture of safety through effective communication. Facilitate onsite safety meetings and discussions to engage all stakeholders.
- Safety Reporting: Prepare and present safety reports to Regional Safety and Healthy Manager and project stakeholders. Track and analyze safety performance data to drive continuous improvement.
- Safety Leadership: Provide strong leadership and mentorship to the safety team. Promote a robust safety culture across the organization.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Indirectly supervises employees.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, Environmental Science, or related field (Master's degree preferred), experience may be used to substitute education.
- CHST-Construction Health and Safety Technician. REQUIRED
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in construction health and safety field required
- Familiarity with health and safety standard concepts, practices and procedures required. Experience with the EM385-1-1 highly desirable.
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.

Frequently exposure to outside weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is varied, per the project site conditions and activities.
