Now Hiring: Senior Project Manager Direct Hire Location: Honolulu, HI Company: NSC Staffing Send Resumes to: NSCWest@nscstaffing.com NSC Staffing is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager (Direct Hire) to lead and execute major ship repair and modernization programs in Honolulu, Hawaii. This role offers a highly visible leadership opportunity managing complex commercial and U.S. Navy contracts ranging from $1M to $100M+ in value within a fast-paced shipyard environment.

Position Overview

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the full lifecycle management of ship repair projects, including planning, execution, cost control, scheduling, and customer engagement. This role serves as the primary point of contact for clients while leading cross-functional teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute ship repair and modernization projects from award through completion.
  • Oversee projects ranging from $1M to $100M+, ensuring schedule, cost, and quality objectives are met.
  • Coordinate all project phases including planning, production, testing, and closeout.

Customer & Stakeholder Interface

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and contract stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with:
    • Customers and government representatives
    • Engineers and estimators
    • Subcontractors and vendors
    • Production supervisors and workforce
  • Lead daily and weekly meetings including production, progress, and executive briefings.

Contract & Financial Management

  • Manage government and commercial contracts, including scope, cost, and schedule changes.
  • Negotiate contract modifications and change orders with customers.
  • Monitor project performance and ensure alignment with contractual requirements.

Planning, Scheduling & Resource Management

  • Develop and manage production schedules and work sequencing plans.
  • Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, and subcontract support.
  • Apply project management principles including risk management and performance tracking.

Technical Oversight

  • Interpret complex work specifications, drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Ensure compliance with NAVSEA Standard Items, work authorization processes, and shipboard procedures.
  • Maintain familiarity with shipboard systems, equipment, and engineering principles.

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise and mentor project management staff.
  • Provide leadership to ensure alignment across all project teams.
  • Foster a collaborative, results-driven work environment.

Qualifications & Experience Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred OR equivalent work experience.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Minimum 10+ years of ship repair or marine industry experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years of project management experience.
  • Strong experience managing government contracts and Navy programs.
  • Knowledge of:
    • NAVSEA standards
    • Work Authorization Forms (WAF)
    • Shipboard tag-out procedures
    • Estimating and scheduling processes
  • Experience with shipboard operations and marine engineering systems.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-value projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project or similar scheduling tools).
  • Strong negotiation, planning, and problem-solving skills.

Security & Access Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required due to clearance and base access requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain:
    • TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)
    • DBIDS (Defense Biometric Identification System) access
  • Valid Hawaii driver's license or REAL ID-compliant ID (or valid U.S. passport).
  • Must pass background check and post-offer drug screening.

  • Shipyard and office environments supporting marine repair operations.
  • Frequent interaction with production areas, vessels, and industrial workspaces.
  • Fast-paced, high-responsibility role with multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
