PRESCHOOL LEAD TEACHER (4-YEAR-OLD CLASS)
Salary: $41,000-$43,000 annually, based on qualifications and experience
Wesley Children's Program is seeking a passionate and dedicated Preschool Lead Teacher to join our team.
As a NECPA-accredited early childhood program, we are committed to providing high-quality, developmentally appropriate learning experiences that support children's social-emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development.
This position leads a classroom of four-year-olds with a maximum class size of 15 children and the support of a classroom aide. We are looking for an educator who enjoys creating engaging learning experiences, building strong relationships with families, and helping children develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with a minimum of 12 Early Childhood Education credits, OR a current Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential
- Minimum 1 year of experience working in an educational setting
- Current PATCH Registry member
- Ability to meet DHS licensing requirements
- Successful completion of all required background checks and health clearances, including Physical and TB testing

- CPR Certification
- First Aid Certification
- Experience teaching preschool-aged children

POSITION SUMMARY
The Preschool Lead Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, healthy, nurturing, and engaging learning environment where children can learn, grow, and develop through hands-on, age-appropriate experiences. The Lead Teacher supports children's development in the areas of social-emotional growth, language and literacy, cognitive development, physical development, and early math skills.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment through intentional teaching and active supervision
- Ensure children are supervised within sight and/or sound at all times
- Develop and implement curriculum using Creative Curriculum as a framework
- Prepare and submit monthly lesson plans
- Plan and facilitate engaging daily learning experiences
- Observe, assess, and document children's growth and development through observations, checklists, work samples, and photographs
- Communicate regularly with families regarding children's development and progress
- Actively engage in children's learning and play experiences
- Use positive guidance techniques to support children's behavior and social-emotional development
- Maintain awareness of children's allergies, medications, and health needs
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and licensing requirements
- Monitor classroom supplies and communicate purchasing needs
- Maintain required child-to-staff ratios at all times
- Supervise, support, coach, and mentor classroom aides and assistant teachers
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities
- Complete a minimum of 16 hours of professional development annually
- Maintain required PATCH Registry, background check, and licensing documentation
- Respect the confidentiality of children, families, and coworkers
- Arrive on time and follow attendance and call-out procedures
- Follow all Wesley Children's Program policies and procedures
- Maintain professional communication and positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers
WORK SCHEDULE
Monday-Friday
8:00am-4:30pm
Occasional overtime or additional hours may be required to meet program needs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, and actively engage with young children
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors
- Ability to use a computer, copier, telephone, and other office equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
