Position InformationServing the public through reliable legal support.The Department of the Corporation Counsel (COR) is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Clerk III to support attorneys handling litigation and other legal matters on behalf of the City. In this role, you will perform a variety of independent legal clerical duties, including preparing legal documents, maintaining case records, coordinating court activities, and assisting attorneys with case preparation. Your organizational skills and attention to detail will help ensure legal documents, filings, and case records are processed accurately and on time.What You Will Do* Prepare and process a variety of legal documents, forms, correspondence, and related materials used in legal proceedings.* Maintain and organize case files and legal records in electronic and hard copy formats.* Track assigned cases, maintain court calendars, and coordinate deadlines and court appearances for attorneys.* File or e-file legal documents with the courts and compile materials needed for court proceedings.* Research case files and gather information needed by attorneys and legal staff.* Process claims filed against the City and prepare related correspondence and documentation.NOTE: The Legal Clerk positions are clerical and may be eligible for promotional opportunities to the Supervising Legal Clerk series.
