Spa Director

Description:

Our client is a growing wellness and spa management organization with an expanding footprint in Hawaii. We are seeking a spa director to oversee an urban wellness and spa location in Honolulu that is about to undergo a renovation and is in the process of expanding treatment space and evolving into a more robust, membership-driven spa model with significant revenue growth projected. This position will also have oversight of a small (3 treatment room) spa on Maui and will require periodic travel to that location.

This role is designed for a hands-on, field-based leader who will partner closely with ownership to strengthen site-level leadership, drive revenue performance, oversee expansion projects, and ensure brand consistency. It is a boots-on-the-ground leadership position requiring presence, mentorship, and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational leadership in Honolulu and Maui.
  • Drive revenue growth, service excellence, membership performance, and retail optimization.
  • Oversee expansion initiatives, including treatment room buildouts and new service environments.
  • Mentor and develop on-site managers and practitioner, building confident and accountable teams.
  • Implement consistent KPIs, reporting standards, training systems, and operational playbooks.
  • Ensure brand alignment and service consistency.
  • Partner with ownership on budgeting, forecasting, staffing strategy, and long-term growth planning.

This role is best suited for a seasoned, hands-on spa executive with:

  • Significant leadership experience in resort spa, wellness, hospitality, or experiential service brands.
  • Strong financial acumen and comfort managing P&Ls in the $150K–$200K+ monthly revenue range.
  • Experience leading new openings, renovations, or operational turnarounds.
  • A collaborative leadership style grounded in emotional intelligence and team development.
  • The ability to operate effectively in both resort-driven and membership-based spa models.
  • A practical, entrepreneurial mindset—someone equally comfortable setting strategy and stepping in to support front-line execution.

Location & Travel

This role is based in Hawaii, with periodic travel between Oahu and Maui. Ideal candidates will currently live in or near Honolulu or in Hawaii. Mainland candidates will be considered if they have spa management experience in Hawaii.

Compensation

Base Salary: Starting at $125,000 DOE plus performance-based bonus
