Electrician-Electronic Equipment Repairer

Keeping systems running, one connection at a time. The Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM), Public Building and Electrical Maintenance Division, is seeking an Electrician-Electronic Equipment Repairer in Honolulu.

What you will do:

  • Participate in the installation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of electrical systems, wiring systems, equipment and appurtenances for all facilities under the jurisdiction of DFM.
  • Ensure subordinates and self adhere to applicable safety practices, rules, and procedures, and performs all duties in a safe and acceptable manner to ensure the safety of self, co-workers, and the general public.
  • Work schedule is Monday to Friday from 6:50 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.
  • Will be assigned to service locations that are subject to applicable state and federal laws in order to access the facilities.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Special work requirements:

  • May be called out to work while on off-duty status to respond to electrical emergencies.
  • Employee shall provide valid after hours contact number.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Be able to work at various heights, from an electric lift, scaffolds, and/or aerial trucks.
  • May be exposed to some working conditions that require the use of a respirator.
  • This position will be assigned to service the Joint Traffic Management Center (JTMC) and the USN Whitmore Naval Station and is subject to applicable state and federal laws in order to access the facilities.
    • JTMC: Any employee with unescorted access to secured areas and equipment related to a traffic management center requires a fingerprint-based criminal history record check as part of the pre-employment suitability in accordance with HRS 846-2.7 (b)(37).
    • USN Whitmore Naval Station: Access requires a federal background check as mandated by the U.S. Navy.
