Senior Marketing Communications Specialist
Department: Marketing & Communications Services
FLSA Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Salary Range: $65,146. - $81,433. Annually
Position Summary:
Plan, develop, and execute external marketing communications and integrated campaigns that support brand awareness, lead generation, and member engagement. This role leads the development of external messaging frameworks and campaign narratives, ensuring consistency across traditional and digital channels including email, web, social media, advertising, and partner communications.
This role also develops content informed by research and audience insights, monitors performance, and drives continuous improvement. The Senior Specialist works independently, oversees projects, and collaborates with internal teams, vendors, and agencies while staying current on market and industry trends.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Messaging & Content Strategy
Lead development of messaging frameworks, value propositions, and campaign narratives
Translate business priorities into clear, audience-focused messaging
Ensure brand consistency across all marketing channels
Campaign Planning & Execution
Plan and execute integrated marketing campaigns (e.g., open enrollment, product launches)
Develop content calendars, creative briefs, and campaign plans
Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and agencies
Support paid and organic campaign execution
Partner with performance team to align content with data insights
Channel Management
Oversee messaging across email, web, social media, digital ads, and print
Manage social media strategy and content execution
Maintain editorial and campaign calendars
Collaborate with teams to adapt messaging across channels
Brand, PR & Partnerships
Support press releases, media materials, and partner communications
Ensure alignment between external messaging and brand positioning
Performance & Optimization
Track and analyze campaign performance (engagement, conversions, etc.)
Apply insights to improve future campaigns and content strategies
Other Duties
Support marketing events and cross-functional initiatives
Assist with additional marketing projects as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in marketing communications, campaign marketing, or integrated marketing
Strong writing and editing skills across multiple formats
Experience managing projects, timelines, and cross-functional teams
Familiarity with brand management and audience segmentation
Experience with social media platforms and marketing tools
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Portfolio of writing or campaign work
Working Conditions:
Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Primarily sedentary, computer-based work
Hybrid/work-from-home eligible; must report to office as needed
May require evenings or weekends for events
Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation
