Our client, a growing technical solution for the P&C Insurance sector is looking for a hands-on Director level Product Leader to help translate insurance underwriting into requirements and create specialized software and digital tools designed to automate underwriting, policy administration, andclaims management (MGA.)This role personally owns the definition, documentation, and validation of business and product requirements, working with underwriting teams and engineers to launch products while keeping underwriting discipline intact. This role relies heavily on experience with go-to-market insurance product technology, while being a tech and underwriting thought leader and doer.

• Always have product vision around emerging tech and roadmap for the underwriting lifecycle tech stack ( Client, rating, underwriting workflows, portals and integrations.)
• Be the point person considering build vs. buy vs. configure decisions.
• Prioritize speed-to-market while establishing patterns that will scale.
• Lead requirements gathering with underwriters through whiteboards, workshops, etc.
• Translate underwriting guidelines and judgment into BRDs, User Stories, workflows, scenarios, etc.
• Ensure all requirements are clear and reviewed with software engineers before build begins.
• Lead underwriters through defining test scenarios that validate underwriting intent across the end-to-end policy lifecycle .
• Own the creation and management of test artifacts along with underwriting.
• Facilitate testing events where underwriters execute scripts and confirm outcomes match the requirements.
• Serve as a hands-on power user of the platform.
• Actively use the system to validate flows, identify gaps, and confirm user experience is workable for underwriting teams.
• Partner with engineering to translate test findings into clear backlog , ensuring fast iteration and minimal rework.
• Work daily with engineers to clarify intent and resolve ambiguity.
• Contribute directly in backlog grooming, sprint planning, and release validation.
• Review builds against underwriting intent and requirements.

Skills

• 5+ years experience as an Insurance Technical Product Manager, Product Owner, or Lead Business Systems Analyst.
• 3+ years experience working with Underwriting teams on technical solutions.
• Bachelors Degree
• Experience in an Agile Environment.
