Internship Summary:

This extensive internship provides:

• Practical Experience: Apply academic knowledge to real-world scenarios, bridging the gap between theory and practice. Develop hospitality industry-specific skills, such as event planning, sales and marketing, or venue management.
• Skill Development: Enhance soft skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. Build technical proficiency with tools and systems used at HCC.

Complete an internship at the Hawaii Convention Center. Work in various department specialty areas such as:

• Food & Beverage: Catering Sales, Banquet Operations, Culinary
• Sales & Marketing: Prospecting, Marketing, Client Intake, Event Handoff, Event Management Systems
• Event Management: Event Planning, Facilities, Event Operations
• Venue Operations: Housekeeping, Landscaping, Engineering, Project, Security, IT
• Administrative Resources: Reception, Executive Support, Finance, Human Resources

Required Qualifications (Job Knowledge, Skills, and Education):

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• A minimum education level of: High School Diploma or its equivalency.
• Must be an ACTIVE college student.
• Ability to commit to 12-16 hours per week.
• Must be able to be lift/carry 10 pounds.
• Must have the ability to work harmoniously in a team setting exhibiting the "Aloha Spirit" to fellow workers, guests, clients and the community so as to provide exceptional customer service while demonstrating behaviors that reflect the Hawai'i Convention Center's vision, mission statement and values.

Rate of Pay

$18.00 per hour
