Snapshot / Role Overview
We're seeking a Start-up & Commissioning Manager in Honolulu, Hawaii to lead the commissioning and start-up of commercial HVAC systems and ensure optimal system performance.

Impact

• Ensure all HVAC systems are properly commissioned and operating atpeak efficiency

• Reduce warranty callbacks and rework through thorough start-up procedures

• Build strong relationships with owners and facility teams during turnover

• Drive quality standards that set projects apart from competitors

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning activities for commercial HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, air handlers, and controls

• Develop and execute start-up plans, checklists, and functional performance testing procedures

• Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and owner representatives on commissioning schedules

• Oversee testing, adjusting, and balancing activities to verify system performance

• Document all commissioning activities and prepare turnover packages for building owners

• Train owner maintenance staff on system operations and preventive maintenance

• Troubleshoot and resolve system issues discovered during commissioning

• Manage commissioning technicians and ensure quality standards are met

• Collaborate with controls teams on BAS point verification and sequence validation

Requirements
Must-Haves

• 7+ years of experience in commercial HVAC commissioning or start-up

• Strong understanding of chiller, boiler, and air handling system operations

• Experience with building automation systems and controls sequences

• Proven ability to read mechanical drawings and control diagrams

• Excellent documentation and communication skills

• OSHA 30 certification or willingness to obtain

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience in the Honolulu or Hawaii construction market

• CxA certification or similar commissioning credentials

• Background with Tridium Niagara, Siemens, or Johnson Controls systems

• EPA Universal certification
