Johnson Brothers Liquor Company is a family-owned wine, spirits, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages distributor with headquarters in St. Paul, Minnesota.

We are currently accepting resumes for a Category Manager with Johnson Brothers Liquor Company.

This person develops and executes tactical and strategic business plans that facilitate the implementation of category management plans. Also provides analytical support to one or more assigned accounts by monitoring syndicated consumer insight data, financial and business research, and account transactional data to uncover sales trends, investigate product demand and optimize merchandising strategies to discover sales opportunities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides data analysis and reporting to customers which includes interpreting and disseminating results to customers and helping identify business opportunities.
  • Directly interfaces with customer category decision makers to influences their category management practices.
  • Works with customers to understand their needs, creates and makes presentations as needed.
  • Sells "Best Practices" concepts, philosophies and innovations to the retailer
  • Provides counsel on issues; creates customized business solutions and recommendations.
  • Supports analytic projects from inception through completion; prioritizes and manages multiple projects.
  • Uses space planning tools to create, analyze, and validate schematics.
  • Provides guidance and education to users regarding data tools, syndicated data usage, and best practices.
  • Provide business situation assessment that is leveraged in joint business plan development with key stakeholders
  • Track and deliver weekly/monthly retailer category performance scorecard
  • Champions the adopting new technologies to better perform job functions and to support the customer base.
  • Represents the department in cross-functional team based activities and meetings with internal or external customers.
  • Develop and maintain advanced analytics and reporting systems using multiple programming languages (e.g., Python, VBA, R) to drive data-driven decision-making processes
  • Implement and optimize data models, algorithms, and automated processes to streamline category operations and improve efficiency
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical solutions, leveraging your coding expertise and data management capabilities.
  • Flexibility to work early morning hours based on business demands.
  • Willingness to travel within assigned territory.
  • Proven ability to execute and maintain store schematics while effectively partnering with external vendors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 4-year College Degree (preferred)
  • District Manager level experience with 2 years of sales experience in a mostly retail environment preferred
  • Previous wine and spirits experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, project management and analysis.
  • Strong experience completing multiple assignments that are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity in a given time period.
  • Skilled in solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to build reports for management using multiple system platforms to gather data.
  • Superior drive for results with demonstrated ability to build indispensable, collaborative partnerships with the customer and internal business partners, across functional teams
  • Must manage time and prioritize tasks. Work in a team environment but be highly motivated with the ability to work independently. Results oriented individual who excels in a dynamic, fast paced environment
  • Must be proficient in MS Office and considered an advance user in MS Excel, internet applications and ProSpace at a basic level preferred.

The expected pay range for this role is $65,000 - $80,000. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon several factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity, union status (where applicable) and alignment with market data.
