We are looking for a highly motivated accountant to take on the Senior Accountant position for the Coinbase Asset Management (CBAM) business. This esteemed business serves as a registered investment advisor and commodity trading advisor, specializing in institutional digital asset management. In this role, you will be an accounting lead, partnering with the business on compliance and technical accounting matters while providing invaluable financial insights.

What you'll be doing:

  • Oversee accounting operations for CBAM, including monthly close processes, account reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with US GAAP.

  • Collaborate with the fund controller to review and record management fees and manage expense allocations per fund agreements.

  • Lead compliance initiatives based on requirements for an SEC registered investment advisor and NFA registered commodity trading advisor.

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial results presentations for CBAM management.

  • Analyze data against business drivers to identify trends and issues.

  • Stay updated on industry developments in accounting, SEC regulations, NFA regulations, and fund accounting practices to provide informed recommendations.

  • Prepare annual US GAAP financial statements for CBAM and assist in annual auditing processes.

  • Collaborate with the accounting team to implement new accounting standards and operationalize changes for new or modified products.

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and policies aligned with Coinbase's global standards, assisting in the design and implementation of new controls.

  • Ensure that internal controls related to CBAM are effective for SOX compliance.

  • Streamline and enhance processes, systems, and internal controls to improve operational efficiency.

  • Support management with special projects as needed.

  • Oversee vendor billing relationships and coordinate with accounts payable to resolve payment inquiries promptly.

  • Prepare (or review) receivables and payables related to fund entities.

  • Work with Compliance and Regulatory teams for quarterly and annual filings.

What we look for in you:

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, and COSO principles.

  • Comprehensive understanding of the reporting and compliance requirements for an SEC registered investment advisor and NFA registered commodity trading advisor.

  • Experience with fund accounting.

  • Proven track record serving as a trusted finance and accounting advisor to business leaders.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally, gathering all relevant information and bridging accounting and business needs.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and effective timeline management.

  • A desire to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • CPA certification.

  • Familiarity with SQL, Python, or similar programming languages.

  • Knowledge of blockchain technology and the cryptocurrency market.

  • Experience with Netsuite, FloQast, and G-Suite.

Compensation: Depending on your location, the target annual base salary for this position can range between $130,900-$154,000 USD. Full-time offers from Coinbase also include eligibility for bonuses, equity, and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
