Position Overview

As a Marine Welder/Mechanic Specialist, your primary responsibility will be performing welding and mechanical maintenance while providing essential training to assist shipboard personnel in operating, maintaining, and repairing critical engineering systems and equipment aboard U.S. Navy Surface Ships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute welding and mechanical maintenance tasks to support shipboard personnel in operational readiness.
  • Develop a deep understanding of production processes and systems.
  • Engage with customers and manage subcontractors while providing effective work direction.
  • Handle multiple projects and collaborate on various tasks with a focus on quality and efficiency.
  • Create and utilize technical documents including controlled work packages and maintenance reports.
  • Schedule and report progress to customers and senior management.
  • Assist in quality inspections of finished products and perform other duties outside of specialty as required.

Qualifications

  • A high school education, technical training, or equivalent experience alongside 6 years in a related field.
  • Extensive experience as a Shipboard Marine Welder with proficiency in MIG, Brazing, and mechanical trades.
  • Able to read and interpret technical documents, equipment drawings, and ship specifications.
  • Competent in the use of mechanical tools for ship repair tasks.
  • Must provide your own hand tools as necessary for your specialty.
  • Physical ability to work in industrial environments, including climbing and operating aboard ships.
  • Capacity to obtain and maintain a DOD Confidential security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications in MIG, TIG, ARC Welding, and Brazing.
  • Recent experience as a Marine Welder/Mechanic on U.S. Navy ships.
  • Possession of a current DOD Confidential security clearance or higher.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and transport heavy equipment (up to 30 lbs).
  • Willingness to work in extreme temperatures, in confined spaces, and in various industrial conditions.
  • Potential for extended periods at sea aboard ships.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators.
