Description:

Civil Engineering Lead Rail Transit

At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your impact

Thriving communities. Healthy cities. Diverse experience. A brighter future. Continuous learning and growth. What we do is more than building infrastructure; we work every day to make the world better for everyone. If you want to join a company invested in you, your success and the global community, join us as a Civil Engineering Lead Rail Transit.

As a vital member of our Hawaii and Northwest team, you'll serve as the civil engineering lead for a major Honolulu rail transit program. You'll support the Jacobs program management team by working with and leading multidisciplinary teams and partner with clients to deliver planning, design, and construction support services across rail corridor and station-area improvement packages.

In this role, you'll guide civil scope from concept through close-out by supporting PS&E development and construction phase services while balancing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk. You'll coordinate complex interfaces across structures/guideway, utilities, roadway/traffic, and third-party stakeholders to keep packages moving and resolve issues efficiently.

Join us and we'll assist in continuing the development of your skills and exploring all that you can do across our global company.

Here's What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related).
  • Hawaii Professional Engineer (P.E.) (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • 10+ years of relevant civil/transportation engineering experience, including experience serving as a civil task lead or civil discipline lead on complex infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead civil scope "soup-to-nuts" (planning/scoping through PS&E and construction support), including grading, drainage/stormwater, utilities, roadway tie-ins, and site/civil improvements and technical specifications development.
  • Client-facing leadership, serving as a civil point of contact, facilitating technical coordination meetings, and communicating design decisions and risks clearly.
  • Working knowledge of applicable local design standards (e.g. HDOT, DTS, CCH) and agency/client criteria; ability to produce compliant plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal guidance and funding/program requirements as applicable to transit/rail (e.g., FHWA, FTA, FRA).
  • Proficiency with civil design software and production tools such as Bentley MicroStation/OpenRoads and/or Autodesk Civil 3D/AutoCAD.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and manage multiple concurrent priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Honolulu-based availability with daily in-office presence at the client office in Downtown Honolulu due to program and client needs.

Ideally, You'll Also Have:

  • Experience delivering transit and/or rail projects and coordinating interfaces across rail, roadway, utilities, and structures/guideway.
  • Experience with station access improvements, ADA upgrades, urban drainage/stormwater, and complex utility coordination/relocation.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and enable othersbuilding capability through coaching, templates, checklists, and repeatable practices.
  • Experience coordinating staffing and workload, mentoring early- and mid-career engineers, and applying QA/QC practices for consistent, high-quality deliverables.
  • Experience supporting construction (RFIs, submittal reviews, field issue resolution) on rail/transit or similarly complex public works projects.
  • Strong proposal and technical writing skills.
