The Director of G&A IT plays an integral role in spearheading enterprise technology solutions that enhance essential business operations within Cengage Group's General & Administrative functions. This position oversees a range of technology platforms, including Product Information Management, Product Data Management, ERP integrations, HR systems, and B2B e-commerce, ensuring smooth integration with crucial enterprise applications like SAP and CRM.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Management of Platforms & Systems:
    • Lead PIM, PDM, JD Edwards (E1), HR systems, EDI platforms, and related applications.
    • Advance modernization efforts and oversee technology roadmaps for designated systems.
    • Develop strategies to minimize technical debt, focusing on cost efficiency and architectural clarity.
    • Lead the decommissioning of outdated systems and application rationalization projects.
    • Manage vendor partnerships and assess new technological solutions.
    • Ensure reliability, performance, and security across all managed platforms.
  • Delivery of Programs & Projects:
    • Execute business initiatives promptly and within scope, especially for company-wide transformation programs.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on extensive ERP, CRM, and other large-scale implementations.
    • Oversee Agile delivery and perpetuate enhancements in development practices.
    • Proactively identify challenges and opportunities while taking decisive action.
    • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while keeping a strategic perspective.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Establish and nurture strong relationships with business leaders.
    • Work closely with teams across Product Management, Legal, HR, Finance, and other departments.
    • Communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Maintain relationships with external vendors and outsourcing partners.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to set priorities and manage expectations.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor, resolving issues and facilitating solutions for internal customers.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Guide and mentor software engineering and technical teams.
    • Provide clear guidance on priorities and empower teams for effective execution.
    • Encourage collaboration between technology teams and business process owners.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
    • Support the professional growth and career advancement of team members.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • 10+ years of advancing IT leadership experience managing enterprise applications (ERP, PIM/PDM, HR, e-commerce).
  • Demonstrated success in overseeing large-scale system implementations in dynamic environments.
  • Strong grasp of enterprise systems, integration architectures, Agile methodologies, and modern software practices.
  • Experience with data management, EDI, e-commerce technologies, and vendor management.
  • Proven leadership ability to scale teams and achieve results through effective delegation.
  • Strategic problem-solver capable of balancing execution with long-term objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex ideas into business value.

Compensation Details:

At Cengage Group, we are committed to offering a comprehensive Total Rewards package to empower our employees. The position includes eligibility for a discretionary incentive bonus program based on individual performance and company outcomes. The salary range for this role is $138,000.00 - $180,000.00 USD, with individual base pay varying based on work schedule, qualifications, and geographic location.
