Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Data Center Operations Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in engineering and installing data center equipment, managing complex projects, and delivering solutions that ensure operational excellence. This role involves engineering all aspects of data centers, including infrastructure, racking systems, network and server setups, cable distribution, power management, and containment solutions.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma is required; additional college or technical education is a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience or equivalent field experience in a data center environment.
• BICSI certifications are advantageous.
• Proficient in software tools like MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Access.
• Quick learner for customer-specific engineering databases and software.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to interpret complex documents including technical specifications and data center drawings.
• Skilled in writing reports, business correspondence, and engineering specifications.

Responsibilities:

• Independently manage deadline-sensitive projects with minimal supervision.
• Analyze site survey data to compile accurate Bills of Materials.
• Conduct site surveys and create detailed write-ups when necessary.
• Develop Bills of Materials and Firm Price Quotes for projects.
• Create engineering specifications tailored to data center requirements.
• Identify and resolve engineering problems, understanding change order processes.
• Simultaneously handle multiple engineering projects.
• Update and maintain customer drawings and databases proficiently.
• Actively mentor junior engineers on best practices.
• Engage regularly with customer representatives and internal teams.
• Serve as a key resource in solving customer issues independently.
• Ensure familiarity with engineering specifications formats and structures.
• Understand equipment drawings and proactively seek out necessary information.
• Proficiently utilize drafting tools such as VISIO and AUTOCAD for design updates.
• Conduct site visits to troubleshoot and resolve problems as needed.
• Engineer solutions while adhering to quality standards and best practices.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Engineering Skills and Reasoning Ability:

• Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to analyze telecommunication installations.
• Capable of collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
• Interpret a diverse range of technical specifications to create detailed engineering documents.

• Utilize common engineering tools effectively, such as measuring devices and calculators.

Physical Demands:

• Frequent hand use for typing, writing, and handling paperwork.
• Office-based work with potential travel to customer sites to resolve technical issues.
• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
• Close vision required for detailed work at a computer and handling documents.
