Under indirect supervision, accurately and efficiently assess income/address and eligibility of WIC participants in regards to Federal regulations and State of Hawaii Department of Health WIC policies using the HIWIC computer system. Assists in all aspects of basic WIC services including anthropometric/hematological screening. Supports the mission, goals and objectives of Kalihi-Palama Health Center.
Maintain professional customer service towards all participants and staff
Performs routine clerical duties with ability to type 25wpm, use fax/scan/copy machine
Accurately orients participants to the WIC program
Accurately explains the WIC program/history/foods approved
Able to use audio visual equipment for WIC orientation video
Use the HIWIC system to perform essential duties and other duties as assigned
Accurately determines and records first and second authorized caregivers
Accurately able to verbally explain e-WIC card
How to issue an e-WIC card/activation
Maintain security of eWIC cards and WIC mail.
Accurately able to assist setting participants PIN
Able to direct participants in resetting/unlocking using IVR number
Ability to deactivate card and set appointment for participant to retrieve a new card
Ability to issue benefits if food packages are assigned. Refer WIC client to appropriate staff if food package changes are needed.
Ability to follow policies and procedures to issue e-WIC card and benefits to foster clients.
Can accurately verbally outline all aspects of WIC eligibility requirements: ID, household income eligibility, and what documents are required to prove eligibility and Med-Quest verification
Check demographics: address, phone and zip code at each visit
Accurately input proof of income, address, and identification to determine WIC eligibility
Accurately records new pregnancy and end of pregnancy
Accurately complete in-state WIC transfers
Accurately print Verification of Certification (VOC)
Knows contact information to other WIC programs to help clients transfer if needed
Set up appointments for WIC VOC referrals
Initiate presumptive eligibility whenever possible
Accurately screens and transfers calls/emails
Accurately schedule and reschedule WIC appointments over the phone and in clinic
Give directions to KPHC WIC clinic via all modes of transportation
Answer the phone, takes messages, return phone calls
Send WIC letters for applying to WIC, WIC orientation, and missed appointments
Retrieve and call missed appointments
Retrieve and call appointment reminders
Retrieve phone messages/emails and returns calls/email in a timely manner
Pre-certify and complete WIC referrals
Accurately measures and records anthropometric data
Accurately measures and records hematological data
Order and update supplies for the hematological area
Able to follow ethical guidelines and assure confidentiality of participant information (HIPAA)

Able to retrieve nutrition education from WICHealth.org and accurately record online nutrition education in HIWIC.
Correctly does nutrition education (NE) contacts for low-risk clients, gets needed forms and makes correct next appointment
Issues CPA assigned WIC food benefits
Appropriately refer high risk clients to the WIC Registered Dietitian
Appropriately refer WIC clients to Kalihi-Palama Health Center for additional resources
Appropriately refer to community resources/healthcare providers.
Assist with outreach activities.
Able to provide interpretation in proficient language(s)
Scan all necessary and required documents in HIWIC
Regular and reliable on-site attendance is required.
Cooperates with all other staff members in accomplishment of own job duties

High School diploma or GED equivalent
One year working with infants/children in a day care, school, community setting OR currently enrolled in a bachelors of science in nutrition degree accredited program
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Work effectively with multi-ethnic individuals
Competent with computers, office machines and office procedures. Able to type 35 wpm on a word processor. Must be able to multi-task
