RESPONSIBILITIES

Diagnostic Laboratory Services, Inc. (DLS) is Hawaii's largest locally owned and operated clinical and anatomic pathology laboratory. DLS is considered a leader in the Hawaii, Guam and Saipan communities we serve. As an integral part of the patient care team, DLS utilizes state-of-the-art testing and value-based informatics to promote optimal patient care and positively impact patient outcomes.

SCHEDULE

Regular Full-Time Position

Must be available Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Must be flexible with schedule changes to meet operational needs.

HIRING RANGE

$17.75 to $20.36 hourly

Actual pay commensurate with experience

JOB SUMMARY

  • Processes all payments received into the computer system in accordance with departmental procedures, standards and operational needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identifies accounts and enters all payments received into the computer system according to departmental procedures and standards.

  • Generates, reviews and analyzes various reports and takes appropriate actions.

  • Reconciles batch status report prior to month end to ensure all batches entered have been closed or posted. Follows up on all open batches with Accounting Department and insurance payors, as needed.

  • Follows up on accounts in assigned workflow and takes appropriate action.Follows up with billing service for EMC downloads.

  • Retrieves and saves electronic payment remittance advice from various sources, as needed.

  • Follows up on mail returns and rebills appropriately.

  • Monitors payments from payors and advises management of unusual or unreceived payments.

  • Assists with training of new staff and cross-training of current staff.

  • Assists other Billing staff and provides backup coverage for other staff as needed.

  • Assists in the development and maintenance of departmental procedures.

  • Maintains daily log sheet of work and downtime for productivity reports and performance evaluation.

  • Participates on self-directed teams and contributes to the achievement of departmental and organizational goals in support of the organization's mission, vision and shared values.

  • Conducts and participates in exercise classes.

  • Prepares self performance evaluation and provides feedback for peer evaluations.

  • Assists with special projects as assigned.Performs other duties as required.

JOB DEMANDS

Typical Physical Demands:

  • Requires hand-eye coordination, manual and finger dexterity. .

  • Requires close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Requires corrected hearing to normal range.

  • Able to sit and use PC for up to two (2) hours continuously.

  • Able to key for up to six (6) hours intermittently .

  • Able to lift, carry, push or pull items up to thirty five (35) pounds occasionally.

Typical Working Conditions:

  • Work environment includes conditions common to administrative offices.

  • Generally works in an indoor, air-conditioned area.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

Preferred :

  • Experience in medical insurance claims filing or processing.

Skills:

Required:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both in verbal and written form.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and with a team.

  • Ability to process and maintain high volume of work and multi-task assignments.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
