Although various positions at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is expected throughout the year. We hold multiple team and company-wide offsites annually to enhance collaboration, connection, and alignment, and attendance is both expected and fully supported.

We are in search of an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Coinbase Card team within the Consumer Product Group. You will oversee the entire lifecycle of the Coinbase Card product, from card management to transaction processing. This card enables crypto investors to earn rewards through their everyday spending and facilitates global crypto transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and lead full-stack engineering teams to develop features, services, and infrastructure for both web and mobile platforms.
• Mentor your direct reports to foster positive organizational impact and support their career advancement.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to convert our vision into a concrete quarterly roadmap, breaking down complex projects into manageable tasks.
• Serve as a technical advocate within the team, guiding careful architectural choices and nurturing a culture of high-quality code and engineering practices. Work with Product and Engineering teams to ensure effective delivery and operation of large-scale, multi-tenanted systems.
• Partner closely with our talent acquisition team to find and recruit exceptional engineers who embody Coinbase's values and enhance our product offerings.
• Take ownership of processes that drive engineering excellence and fulfill our engineering service level agreements (SLAs).

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 7 years of software engineering experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in engineering management.
• Experience with card products, having developed or worked on a such product at scale.
• In-depth understanding of high-quality code and effective software engineering processes, creating an environment that champions these values.
• Execution-oriented mindset capable of navigating ambiguity to deliver impactful results.
• Ability to balance long-term strategy with immediate planning.
• Experience in developing, delivering, and operating large-scale multi-tenanted distributed systems.
• Hands-on capability when necessary, including writing/reviewing code, participating in on-call rotations, and troubleshooting incidents.
• A strong passion for building an open financial system that connects everyone and propels you to excel in this role.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with crypto and familiarity with onchain activities, such as working with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with decentralized applications or blockchain services.

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual base salary for this role ranges between $218,025 and $256,500. Total compensation will also include equity, bonus eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, and 401(k)).
