Landscape Maintenance - Apprentice

Description

Installs aspects of landscape including excavation, trenching, rock work, sprinkler plumbing, and planting. Cuts grass, repairs damaged lawns, prunes trees and shrubs. Lays out and tends flower beds or other decorative vegetation. Cares for and cultivates existing or newly installed crops and plants in the Center as well as the nursery/farm.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepares ground and soil for planting.
  • Plants, trims, tends, and waters flowerbeds and lawns.
  • Plants or transplants trees, shrubs and other required vegetation and adds mulch when needed.
  • Prunes shrubs and trees to enhance growth and appearance.
  • Keep's water systems, drainage ditches, and culverts clean and free of obstructions.
  • Sweeps and removes water from walkways and staircases using brooms, rakes, blowers and squeegees.
  • Harvests crops and disposes unwanted residue.
Requirements
  • Capable of a full range of body movements.
  • Able to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Able to read, understand and communicate in English.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school graduate or the equivalent.
  • Prior Landscape maintenance experience.


Work Schedule:
To Be Determined (19 Hours Per Week)
