About the Role:
As part of our enthusiastic engineering team, you'll help address complex challenges related to distributed storage systems. Through the Tableflow project, we aim to transform storage technology, making it a true multi-modal storage engine, enabling seamless streaming data consumption.
As a Senior Software Engineer on our team, you will enhance critical elements of Tableflow, focusing on multi-tenant infrastructure and crucial components for table materialization and background maintenance. Your expertise will help develop solutions for efficient table management across Confluent Cloud, ensuring reliability and scalability.
What You Will Do:
Storage Engine Development: Innovate strategies for table schematization, materialization, and compaction at scale.
Platform Engineering: Build robust, multi-tenant infrastructure for Kora's long-term storage, focusing on scalability and reliability.
Open-Source Leadership: Mentor team members in contributing to open-source projects. Promote best practices in community engagement.
Engineering Leadership: Set high standards for engineering excellence, advising teams on technical challenges and strategic decisions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product management and design teams to integrate storage features across the organization.
What You Will Bring:
BS, MS, or PhD in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience in designing and building large-scale, distributed storage systems.
Strong understanding of distributed systems principles, including fault tolerance and scalability.
Expertise in cloud-based infrastructure and multi-tenant environments.
Proven leadership skills with a track record of mentoring engineers.
Excellent communication skills, able to influence stakeholders at all levels.
What Gives You an Edge:
Familiarity with open-source technologies such as Apache Kafka, Apache Iceberg, Apache Flink.
Experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Interest in speaking at tech conferences or writing blogs about your work.
