At Coinbase, our mission is to enhance economic freedom across the globe, a mission that calls for dedication, innovation, and grit. As we build the revolutionary onchain platform that will shape the future of the financial system, we are looking for a dynamic individual to join our team.

We want a candidate who is not only passionate about our mission but also views cryptocurrency and blockchain technology as catalysts for financial reform. You should be ready to make a lasting impact, enjoy solving complex issues, and embrace constructive feedback to continually improve. If you're excited about tackling the toughest challenges alongside high-achieving colleagues, Coinbase is the perfect place for you.

While many positions at Coinbase offer the flexibility of remote work, we value in-person collaboration. Expect to participate in team and company-wide offsites several times a year to enhance connectivity and alignment, which are fully supported and anticipated.

The U.S. Compliance Team plays a crucial role in managing regulatory relationships and ensuring compliance with governance processes for Coinbase's U.S. consumer operations. This includes oversight of regulatory requirements such as BSA/AML and OFAC, and working cross-functionally with Compliance, Engineering, Product, and Legal teams to ensure effective operational controls. You will also create materials for presentations to stakeholders, including Board members, regulators, and internal committees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support U.S. regulatory initiatives and act as the main contact for consumer-related business initiatives.
  • Assist in managing compliance for state and federal licensing, including compliance with AML/CFT, sanctions, and consumer regulations.
  • Oversee existing and new compliance programs across Coinbase's consumer-focused U.S. entities.
  • Manage compliance responses for regulatory exams.
  • Develop materials for Board, governance, and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Oversight of U.S. regulatory reporting and new product approval processes.
  • Serve as a Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for managing regulatory changes and building necessary compliance controls.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of compliance experience in a financial institution, preferably one regulated at the federal level, or as a regulator.
  • Experience with consumer compliance, financial crimes compliance, and other regulatory requirements related to U.S. financial services.
  • Knowledge of product compliance, governance, oversight, and managing regulatory relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CAMS, CCAS, or related certifications.
  • Experience engaging directly with regulators.

Pay Transparency Notice: The target annual salary for this position depends on your work location and ranges from $99,365 to $116,900 USD. Additionally, full-time offers from Coinbase include eligibility for bonuses, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)).

Please note that each candidate can submit a maximum of four applications within any 30-day period. We encourage you to carefully review how your skills and interests align with this role.
