Snapshot / Role Overview

We're seeking a Director of Estimating in Honolulu, Hawaii to lead mechanical preconstruction efforts and project pricing across HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection disciplines.

Responsibilities

- Lead day-to-day estimating efforts across HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection projects
- Develop project pricing for design-build, design-assist, value engineering, and negotiated work
- Assess risk, evaluate margins, and consider backlog implications on pursuits
- Support team development and mentor estimating staff
- Serve as client-facing partner during preconstruction and pursuit phases
- Execute effective project turnovers from estimating to operations
- Perform cost reconciliation and post-project analysis
- Collaborate with Operations and Finance on project strategy and execution
- Review subcontractor proposals and manage bid processes
- Maintain estimating standards, templates, and best practices

Requirements

Must-Haves

- 10+ years of mechanical estimating experience in commercial construction
- Strong background in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection pricing
- Experience with design-build, design-assist, and negotiated work
- Proven judgment in risk assessment and margin management
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Proficiency with estimating software and Bluebeam

Nice-to-Haves

- Leadership experience managing estimating teams
- Experience in Hawaii construction market
- Background with large-scale commercial or institutional projects
- Familiarity with construction management software
