Archivist Position

The current vacancy is within the Department of Accounting & General Services in Downtown.

Salary: $4,590 - $5,588 (SR-18, Step D to I)

Performs moderately difficult archival work which includes: appraising, arranging and describing government records and/or private collections; providing reference service to the public, government agencies and other researchers; collecting, indexing, storing and making accessible digital data of archival/historical value; and other duties as assigned.

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Education: A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university which included a minimum of twelve (12) semester credit hours in one or a combination of the following: history, political science, or public administration.

Specialized Experience: Six (6) months of progressively responsible experience in one or a combination of the fields described below:

A. Professional archival work dealing with non-current public records, documents, and historical records.

B. Professional library work maintaining an efficient reference service dealing with the fields of history, government documents and records, political science, public administration, or law.

C. Professional work formulating, installing, revising, or supervising a system of governmental records management.

Some positions require the ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds and climb a five-step ladder unassisted. The immediate vacancy requires the ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.
