Snapshot / Role Overview
We're seeking a Controls & Low Voltage Manager in Honolulu, Hawaii to oversee building automation controls and low voltage electrical installation across commercial projects.
Impact
• Ensure projects achieve better-than-estimated productivity and quality standards
• Strengthen technical capabilities of field technicians through mentoring and training
• Improve cash flow through efficient material management and timely invoicing
• Build trusted relationships with building owners, engineers, and contractors
Responsibilities
• Manage a team of technicians and electricians on building automation and low voltage projects
• Provide hands-on technical expertise for controls installation, startup, and commissioning
• Supervise day-to-day field operations and ensure estimated productivity is achieved
• Coordinate material needs and timing to maximize efficiency and cash flow
• Identify change order opportunities and coordinate documentation with sales
• Debug installation issues during static and dynamic startup phases
• Communicate with consulting engineers, building owners, and other contractors
• Develop team members through goal setting, training, and annual performance reviews
• Ensure timely completion of service calls, work orders, and project documentation
• Support turnover of projects from operations to service teams
Requirements
Must-Haves
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with building automation, security, or low voltage systems
• 2+ years in a leadership role managing teams of 3-6 technicians
• Strong knowledge of BAS platforms such as Tridium, Distech, or similar
• Proficiency with service management software and Microsoft Office
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to project sites
Nice-to-Haves
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field
• OSHA 30, PMP, or industry-recognized BMS certifications
• Experience with access control and CCTV system integration
• Familiarity with the Honolulu construction market
