Your Role

As a Senior Applied Scientist, you will collaborate with other scientists, engineers, and product teams to design and evaluate AI models addressing real healthcare and biological issues. You will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, focused on building and deploying scalable models and systems that enhance clinical decision-making and optimize healthcare operations.

Responsibilities

Modeling and Development:

  • Fine-tune and evaluate large language models (LLMs), small language models, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines.

  • Contribute to the creation of AI solutions for summarizing clinical documents, presenting patient insights, and supporting clinical decisions.

  • Utilize tools like LangChain or other modular AI frameworks to experiment with effective workflow strategies.

Evaluation and Optimization:

  • Develop healthcare-specific model evaluation frameworks focused on performance, semantic accuracy, and safety.

  • Analyze and iterate on model performance based on feedback and evaluation results.

Collaboration and Integration:

  • Partner with product, engineering, and design teams to integrate your models into Oracle's healthcare and life sciences platforms.

  • Support the seamless integration of models within secure and compliant healthcare environments.

Innovation and Learning:

  • Stay current with the latest advancements in generative AI and NLP, particularly in the context of healthcare and life sciences.

  • Propose and prototype new innovative ideas that could enhance healthcare tools and improve user experiences.

What You'll Bring

Education:

  • PhD in Computer Science, NLP, Machine Learning, or a related field; OR

  • Master's degree with 4+ years of applicable experience in AI/ML.

Experience:

  • Experience in training or fine-tuning LLMs or small language models.

  • Proven track record in developing and evaluating LLM agents for real-world applications.

  • Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), LangChain, or similar technologies.

  • Hands-on experience applying AI/ML in healthcare and/or bioinformatics is an advantage.

Skills:

  • Strong foundation in machine learning, NLP, and deep learning methodologies.

  • Proficient in Python, TensorFlow/PyTorch, and open-source LLM tools.

  • Familiarity with bioinformatics resources and tools.

  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively across technical teams.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $97,500 to $199,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
