Loss Prevention Specialist

Description:

GENERAL PURPOSE: This role plays a critical part in enhancing store security and ensuring a safe shopping experience for both Associates and Customers. The Specialist will maintain a prominent presence at store entrances and exits, using courteous and friendly interactions to deter theft and fraud. Dressed in a company-issued vest and required black attire, the Specialist will actively monitor the store environment, addressing potential safety and theft indicators as guided by store leadership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintaining a Safe & Secure Environment:
    • Safety is the top priority; ensure adherence to safe practices while supporting store leadership in creating a secure atmosphere for everyone.
    • Provide a visible presence at store entrances and sales floors, engaging customers with greetings and eye contact to identify potential safety issues.
    • Keep pathways clear and ensure that emergency exits remain unobstructed.
  • Building Teams & Partnerships:
    • Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting customers warmly and addressing their inquiries with professionalism.
    • Treat all individuals with respect and recognition, fostering a positive company culture.
    • Engage regularly with both internal and external partners for collaboration and support.
    • Other assigned duties that may support loss prevention efforts.
  • Protecting Company Assets:
    • Monitor customer and employee activities to detect and address potential theft.
    • Utilize observed theft indicators and intelligence to inform management of trends and concerns.
    • Follow company protocols for addressing external theft and maximize productivity by adhering to best practices.
  • Reducing Operational Shortage:
    • Educate and train Associates on effective strategies to minimize operational shortage.
    • Verify compliance with checkout procedures for both customers and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; AA degree preferred.
  • One year of retail supervisory experience or similar training preferred.
  • One year of experience in loss prevention or security training preferred.
  • Active Security Guard License is a plus.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with team members.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Proven conflict resolution abilities.
  • Must comply with all security-related federal and state laws, including background checks, physical exams, fingerprinting, and drug screenings.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:

  • Consistent attendance and punctuality are required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move in the store for the majority of the workday.
  • Capability to lift and lower objects over 25 lbs.
  • Regular bending, stooping, or crouching may be necessary.
