What You'll Be Doing
Cadmus is on the lookout for a skilled Cloud Infrastructure Automation Engineer to join our dynamic DevOps team in support of our multi-year CMS contract. In this role, you will design, automate, and maintain robust cloud infrastructure on AWS, playing a key part in supporting enterprise applications and our extensive microservices ecosystem.
We are searching for candidates with substantial expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) automation, microservices, containerization, CI/CD pipelines, security protocols, as well as a solid grasp of F5 LTM/APM, including the capability to write, review, and troubleshoot iRules. Your responsibilities will involve a variety of technologies, including AWS components (EC2, ECS Fargate, Lambda, S3, Route53, DynamoDB, AWS Serverless, SQS, SNS, SES), alongside Python, Kong API Gateway, and tools like New Relic, Splunk, Datadog, Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, and F5 LTM/APM.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate daily within a fast-paced Agile DevOps team and engage actively in all phases of Agile methodology.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform/Ansible across AWS services to ensure efficient deployments.
- Promote an automation-driven culture aimed at minimizing manual tasks and boosting operational efficiency.
- Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines leveraging Jenkins, GitHub, and container orchestration platforms.
- Configure traffic routing, access control, and load balancing using F5 LTM/APM.
- Write and troubleshoot F5 iRules for effective traffic management and integration use cases.
- Maintain compliance with all CMS security, governance, and regulatory requirements.
- Support application operations, contribute to the on-call rotation, and ensure system reliability and high availability.
- Facilitate patches, upgrades, deployments, and continuity plans across diverse environments.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including architectural diagrams, operational runbooks, and technical procedures.
- Collaborate with architects and product teams to understand functional challenges, prototype innovative ideas, and devise creative solutions.
- Assist in defining project timelines and support the implementation of design specifications, documentation, testing, and ongoing application support.
Convert business and functional requirements into technical specifications to deliver solutions that align with architectural and program goals.
Qualifications
- Required Skills:
- Strong expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure including EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, S3, SES, Route53, EFS, VPC, ELB/NLB, AWS Serverless, and best practices for AWS automation/configuration.
- Hands-on experience with F5 BIG-IP (LTM/APM), covering load balancing profiles, access policies, and iRules management.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) utilizing Terraform and Ansible for automation and environment provisioning.
- Extensive experience in containerization and orchestration technologies, specifically Docker and Kubernetes, alongside CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub, and Bitbucket.
- Strong Linux/RedHat administration abilities for troubleshooting system and application issues.
- Experience with microservices architectures, API gateways, and authentication/authorization protocols such as Okta, OIDC, and SAML.
- Adept at debugging applications developed in Java, Node.js, and Python from an infrastructure/DevOps viewpoint.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, RDBMS platforms, and DynamoDB.
- Familiarity with observability/monitoring tools like Splunk, New Relic, Datadog, alongside AWS DevOps Guru and AWS Forecast.
- Ability to monitor, manage, and enhance system resource utilization and performance.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, demonstrating the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in extensive enterprise settings.
- Experience in Agile SAFe environments, utilizing collaboration tools such as Jira and Slack.
- Education/Experience Level:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field.
- 5+ years of relevant application development or infrastructure engineering experience.
- 2-4 years of DevOps expertise in AWS environments.
- 2-3 years of hands-on experience with enterprise monitoring, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks.
- 2-3 years in supporting complex applications, inclusive of executing backups, upgrades, and patches.
- Desired Skills & Experience:
- AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, SysOps, DevOps Engineer) are a plus.
- Experience with Canary and Blue-Green deployments.
- Experience with ECS to EKS migration processes.
- Familiarity with AWS AI and machine learning services, including Amazon Bedrock and SageMaker.
- Prior experience in supporting federal programs or large enterprise environments is preferred.

The minimum starting salary for this position is $115,000, with potential for higher compensation based on relevant experience, education, skills, and market competitiveness.
