General Purpose

The Store Security Specialist is responsible for maintaining a visible presence at store entrances and exits to deter theft and fraud while ensuring a safe and secure atmosphere for both Associates and Customers. This role actively supports Store Leadership in adherence to Loss Prevention protocols, contributing to the minimization of operational loss.

Essential Functions

Ensuring a Safe & Secure Environment:

• Prioritize safety in all actions and assist Store Leadership in upholding a safe environment for Associates and Customers.
• Maintain a visible presence, greeting customers warmly and monitoring for safety issues while dressed in company-provided attire.
• Keep the store free from clutter and ensure emergency exits are accessible.

Building Great Teams & Partnerships:

• Deliver excellent customer service by engaging with customers, making eye contact, and responding to inquiries with friendliness.
• Treat every customer and associate with respect and professionalism.
• Recognize and appreciate associates through company recognition programs.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external partners through meetings and training sessions.
• Perform additional duties as needed to support Loss Prevention efforts.

Representing the Brand:

• Actively represent and uphold the company brand in all interactions.
• Adhere to the company dress code to maintain a professional appearance.

Deterring Theft & Fraud:

• Observe entrances, exits, and sales floors to identify and respond to potential theft.
• Collect and analyze theft indicators, sharing insights with Store and Loss Prevention Leadership to mitigate losses.
• Follow company policy regarding theft response protocols.
• Optimize work processes by implementing best practices for efficiency.

Reducing Operational Loss:

• Enhance store awareness regarding effective loss-minimization techniques, providing training and education for associates.
• Verify proper checkout procedures for both customers and associates.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent required; AA degree preferred.
• One year of supervisory experience in retail or equivalent training preferred.
• One year of experience in security or loss prevention preferred.
• Active Security Guard License preferred.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and customer service orientation.
• Proven conflict resolution abilities.
• Must comply with federal and state regulations pertaining to security roles, including background checks and drug testing.

Physical Requirements:

• Consistent punctuality and regular attendance.
• Able to spend the majority of the workday standing and moving throughout the store.
• Capability to lift or lower items over 25 lbs.
• Frequent bending and crouching as needed by daily operations.

The base pay for this role ranges from $15.50 to $16.00, based on factors such as experience and location. This range is one component of the total compensation package, which may include additional rewards.
