divh2Remote Hvac Appliance Technician/h2pThe Remote HVAC Appliance Technician installs, repairs, and maintains industrial and commercial HVAC equipment as well as electric air handling units, exhaust fans, make up air units, pneumatic as well as line, and low voltage controls, various appliancesand air compressors. All duties are to be performed in accordance with NMS mission, vision, and values./ph3Responsibilities/h3ulliTroubleshoots and repairs, as dictated by sound business practices, industrial HVAC equipment, pneumatic control systems, line and low voltage control systems, residential style fuel burning and electric furnaces, unit heaters, kitchen exhaust systems, various appliances, air compressors and other general service areas./liliRepairs and maintains all the heating, air handling systems and A/C units./liliInterprets preventative maintenance schedules and carries them through the steps needed for completion as noted on computer generated general maintenance/repair work orders./liliTroubleshoots and repair large tonnage cooling equipment used in controlled environment such as labs or computer and control areas./liliDiagnose and repair pneumatic systems related to building climate controls./liliLays out the installation of structural and functional components and installs them as required. Fastens parts together to assemble structural and functional components such as motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring harnesses, valves, pumps, compressors, condensers, cores, and pipes./liliCuts, threads, and connects pipe to functional components and water or power system on premises./liliPumps specified gas or fluid into system. Starts system, observes operation, read gauges and instruments, and adjusts mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to control level of fluid, pressure, and temperature in system./liliDismantle malfunctioning systems and test components. Replaces or adjusts defective or worn parts to repair systems./liliTests and repairs various systems and equipment using meters, schematics, drawings and manuals./liliInstalls wiring to connect components to electric power source./liliAttends daily safety toolbox meetings and is required to do job safety evaluations for each job./liliNotify supervisor if safety and sanitation standards are not being met./liliThis position has no supervisory responsibilities./liliOther duties that are pertinent to the department or units success also may be assigned./li/ulh3Qualifications/h3ulliHigh school diploma or GED equivalent./liliTechnician must have EPA Universal certification to work on refrigerant systems./liliFive (5) years experience working in a commercial and/or industrial setting./liliHVAC hands on repair and troubleshooting proficiency in the commercial and industrial settings is required./liliPerform routine calibration and troubleshooting of pneumatic and electrical line and low voltage thermostats and controllers, routine change of filters./liliTroubleshoot and diagnosis of airflow problems, monitor glycol pressures and levels./liliPeriodic inspection and monitoring of air conditioning coils to ensure proper airflows and heat rejection./liliAugmentation of filter changes as required, inspect coil conditions for organic debris and soils./liliEnsure compliance with EPA./liliUse the Annual Preventative Air Conditioning Maintenance checklists/job plan provided or by manufacturers specifications./liliKnowledge and ability to perform maintenance on various types of heating systems is required./liliBasic knowledge of low to high voltage, 3 phase wiring principles and how to read a schematic./liliThe ability to write detailed, descriptive reports on HVAC equipment and required repairs. CFC reports required by the client, etc./liliA valid drivers license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS vehicle insurance policy./liliMust pass all pre-employment contract requirements which may include but are not limited to: drug test, physical and fit for duty assessment and hearing test. Applicants not located near a testing facility are responsible for paying for travel to the nearest testing facility./liliAble to work independently and prioritize workload./liliMust be able to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers and clients./liliMust be able to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision./liliMust be able to be on your feet for 12 hours per shift for the scheduled rotation./liliMust be able to live in dormitory style settings and meet cleanliness requirements of the remote camp./liliContract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English./liliMust meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client./li/ulpCandidates residing outside Anchorage area: Candidates residing in Alaska the Lower 48 for any contract: For the purposes of pre-employment testing, Anchorage will be considered the point of hire (with the exception of drug testing, which will be conducted near the candidates place of residence). Employee is responsible for any travel expenses and needed accommodations related to pre-employment tasks that need to be completed in Anchorage, AK. This includes, but is not limited to, any safety training requirements, required pre-employment testing and/or training such as physical, DOT physical/medical card, fit for duty, audiogram, and/or other testing required by contract/company (NSTC, APICC training, security licensing requirements, etc.)./ppCandidates residing in Alaska for Alyeska Contract: pre-employment testing will be scheduled near the candidates area of residence within the state. Employees are occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals./ppTravel: Must be able to travel by plane and/or bus to remote camps./ppPhysical requirements: Fit For Duty Test/pulliLift: Lift 50 lbs. from floor to knuckle x2/liliLift: Lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist x 2/liliLift: Lift 50 lbs. from floor to shoulders x 2/liliPush: push horizontally with a peak force of 75 f-lbs. with two hands./liliStoop Twist: Perform alternate cross over toe touches x 10 each side, self-paced but continuous./liliSquat Test: Functionally squat x 5, self-paced but continuous./liliKneel: Kneel on one knee and stand. Return to kneel on opposite knee. Repeat alternate kneeling sequence x 10 for each knee, self-pace but continuous./liliStairs: Climb up and down 12 steps x 5 for a total of 60 steps; ulliAllow 30 second rest after climbing up and down each set of 30 steps./li/ul/liliStairs Carry: Climb up and down 12 steps x 2 for a total of 24 steps while carrying 40 lbs. in one hand and using the other hand to grasp a railing for safety, self-paced but continuous. ulliAllow a 30 second rest period after climbing up and down 12 steps while carrying./li/ul/liliSlanted Ladder: Climb a slanted ladder with 8 rungs x 8 repetitions for a total of 64 rungs; ulliAllow 30 second rests after each climb (up and down) of 16 rungs, self-paced./li/ul/liliShovel: Perform a shovel test for three (3) minutes self-paced but continuous (i.e., no breaks) using a standard snow shovel with a 3 lb. weight attached to the shovel blade.
