Job Summary:
The Lecturer supporting the College of Business will be expected to provide instruction in a variety of business disciplines commensurate with qualifications, including but not limited to: Business Law and Ethics, Construction Management, Information Systems, General and International Business, Human Resources, Operations, Management, and Marketing. Instructional activities include developing curriculum and syllabi and assignments that meet course objectives; advise and conference with students and maintaining records on and evaluating student performance. The Lecturer also provides service to and on behalf of the college and the university, including student advising and mentoring and program development.
Location: On-site instruction at HPU's downtown campus sites (Waterfront Plaza, Aloha Tower Marketplace)

Minimum Qualifications
- A terminal degree or graduate degree in business or a closely related field.
- Proven successful college-level teaching experience.
- Proficiency in relevant areas of business expertise.
- Professional experience
Desired Qualifications - A terminal degree or graduate degree in business-related or relevant field with a minimum of five years of professional experience in relevant business disciplines (e.g., industry, consulting, or government).
- Successful college-level teaching experience, ideally at both undergraduate and graduate levels for a minimum of five years, and ideally some of it in Hawai'i
- Professional certifications related to the relevant discipline
- Experience in curriculum development and innovation in teaching methods, including online and hybrid course delivery
- Ability to integrate real-world business scenarios and case studies into the classroom to enhance student learning
- Strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment.
- Evidence of continued professional development in the field (e.g., research, publications, participation in industry associations)
- Experience in developing new courses that support College of Business goals and support community and industry needs
Other Qualifications: - Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship and relocation allowance is not available for this position.
- Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work during HPU's winter break, if necessary.
- This position may be considered an essential position with report to work obligations depending on the type of emergency, campus closure, or evacuation
- Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy.
- Upon hire, candidate must have reliable personal transportation to facilitate travel between to all HPU worksites and other locations as required by the position. This includes a valid driver's license and a personal vehicle that is legally registered and insured.
- Able to teach classes scheduled during days, evenings, and weekends.
- Able to teach classes at multiple locations on Oahu.
- Successful candidate will be able to work in an environment that utilize excellent time and stress management skills.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions: 1. Instructional Duties (60%) Prepare and deliver individual classes; maintain accurate records of student progress, assess learning outcomes, and assign final grades in accordance with university policies.
2. Student Support (12.5%) Hold regular office hours for each assigned course and respond promptly to student questions to ensure effective academic support and mentorship; provide academic advising and faculty membership support.
3. Curriculum and Course Development (12.5%) Develop and update syllabi in line with model syllabi, assigned textbooks, and department, college, and university policies. Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement efforts, including program assessment.
4. Professional and Institutional Service (10%) Participate in training sessions, professional development activities, and other assigned duties; actively contribute as a collaborative team member by completing or accepting additional assignments as needed.
5. Performs other related duties as assigned (5%) Actively participates as an effective member of team by completing assigned duties, accepting additional assignments or reassignments; Assists with seasonal peaks.
