Job title : Power BI Developer

Location : Richland, WA 99354 (100% Remote)

Duration : 10 months Contract with possibility to extension

Job Description:

This position is with our Digital Analytics team, enabling critical platforms that effect every employee at the Client. The focus of this role includes the responsibility for the development and administration of BI tools. The complete knowledge of the Microsoft Power BI stack is required. The main duty of the Power BI developer is to convert raw data into meaningful analysis with the help of interactive, easy to understand dashboards and reports. The work will include developing BI solutions by working with effective teams from multiple disciplines, leveraging technology standards and software development best practices. Our team leverages the Agile methodology for continuous iteration and development. Work is managed using JIRA and weekly hours will need to be tracked in an existing contractor time billing application. All solutions will be subject to review and correction by staff engineers as well as acceptance by the users of the system(s).

This work will be directed by a technical lead and the deliverables may vary based on the needs of the project. Client will have ownership and access of full source code. Code will be stored in the Client's code repository. All work will be delivered at a high quality, including source code and software that is well tested, sustainable, and well documented. Client will provide guidance, standards, processes, and requirements towards high quality software.

• Work collaboratively as part of an agile development team that delivers incremental features to a wide range of products.
• Propose software designs and architectural approaches for new features and applications
• Collaborate effectively on diverse teams (e.g., Portfolio / Project managers, domain experts, users, and software engineering team) to design and deploy innovative business information systems across the enterprise.
• Provide individual contribution to software development projects across a broad range of technologies and subject areas.
• Utilize software engineering best practices through the entire software development lifecycle and recommend changes in development, maintenance, and system standards.
• Enhance personal technical and professional skills through active mentoring and training.
• Assimilate knowledge quickly in a variety of domains.
• Continuously scan the software development landscape for new technologies and methods to achieve results that can be incorporated into the enterprise.

Required Skills:

• BS or MS in computer science, information systems or related field along with work experience in data analytics
• Over five years of experience working with the Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack (Power BI, SSAS, SSRS, and SSIS)
• Minimum three years of extensive experience with Power BI
• Experience in tools and languages including TSQL, Power Query, MDX and DAX
• Experience working with Microsoft Power BI Report Builder for paginated reports
• Understanding of and experience with Agile delivery and Scrum ceremonies
• Experience in the development of enterprise-wide reports and analytics using industry best practices
• Exceptional written and verbal communication, with both technical and nontechnical audiences
• Team-oriented with deep empathy and outstanding interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated creative problem solver with the humility to ask for help when needed
• Self-starter with a strong sense of integrity and professional conduct

The contractor must be strictly a United States Citizen (no dual citizenship), living and working in the United States and agree to protect controlled unclassified information which will be stipulated in the contract.
