Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a contract to hire Staff Accountant for a nonprofit organization. This role is fully remote, with preference for candidates within the DC Metro area.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Staff Accountant will support daily financialoperations, including accounts payable, general ledger tasks, cash management, and journal entries. This role ensures accurate financial records, reconciles online donations, and collaborates with internal and external teams to support month-end and year-end reporting. The position provides exposure to cross-functional projects and offers opportunities to contribute to organizational process improvements.

- Process daily transactions, maintain accurate financial records, and perform account reconciliations.
- Manage accounts payable, including vendor setup, invoice processing, and payment support.
- Support month-end and year-end activities, including journal entries and audit preparation.
- Maintain and improve accounting systems and recommend process enhancements.
- Collaborate with Development, HR, and external accounting teams to ensure financial accuracy.
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives, special projects, and organizational planning.
- Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles and GAAP
- Advanced Excel skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency with accounting software
- Experience with payment platforms
- Works collaboratively, with strong organizational and communication skills
- Hourly rate: $35-38/hr
