Position Overview

As an Automotive Glass Technician Apprentice, you will receive comprehensive training to become a skilled auto glass technician. After completing our training program, you'll obtain the Safelite SafeTech certification and develop essential skills for unsupervised glass repair, replacement, and recalibration. We are looking for individuals who embody the Safelite spirit — demonstrating a positive attitude, a caring nature, and a customer-focused approach while ensuring high-quality workmanship and timely service.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in paid learning through hands-on and classroom training, which includes:
  • Observing and assisting with the installation and repair of auto glass
  • Recalibrating automotive safety systems and conducting diagnostic testing
  • Offering additional services and products to enhance customer safety
  • Studying and passing tests to achieve Safelite certification, showcasing skills and a positive attitude
  • Safely operating company and customer vehicles, tools, and chemicals during your workday
  • Completing other assigned duties that contribute to team success
  • Adhering to all company policies and standards

What We Offer

  • Competitive weekly pay starting at $22.25/hour, increasing to $26.50/hour after training and certification.
  • Earn $5 for each set of wiper blades added for customer safety.
  • Opportunities for promotion within your first year, with competitive pay for Senior and Master Technician levels.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Valid state-issued driver's license is required
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Capability to stand for prolonged periods and work in tight or awkward spaces.
  • Proficient in the safe use of various hand and power tools.
  • Understanding of motor vehicle operation in compliance with laws, with acceptance of monitored vehicle safety technology.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and a commitment to exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and temperatures.
  • Familiarity with using chemicals safely and responsibly.
  • Flexibility to work scheduled hours and adaptable start/end times to meet customer needs.
  • Competence in using computerized diagnostic tools for recalibrations and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and capability to collaborate effectively.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and interpreting English and technical instructions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professional appearance in line with company dress code and safety policies.
  • Ability to maintain performance under pressure, especially regarding time and productivity measures.
