We are currently seeking passionate Electric Utility Distribution Engineers who are dedicated to delivering high-quality design engineering projects. In this role, you will gain valuable experience in areas such as NESC, Structural Pole Modeling, Electrical Power Calculations, GIS design training, Field Data Collection, and Client Design Standards. As an Electric Utility Distribution Engineer, you will:

  • Independently create design and construction work packages for overhead and underground distribution systems ranging from 4kV to 138kV, focusing on various programmatic projects.
  • Collaborate with the project team to achieve daily objectives.
  • Review client-provided work and assess scope requirements.
  • Assist technical staff with various tasks and assignments.
  • Develop permitting documents for different authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs).
  • Coordinate with permit agencies, right-of-way specialists, system owners, field leaders, and third-party owners for joint-owned poles.
  • Interface with Project Managers and Technical Resources across multiple internal areas.
  • Effectively communicate technical solutions, best practices, and procedures within the organization.
  • Travel to sites and attend customer meetings as needed.
  • Perform engineering calculations, including structural analysis, guying calculations, conductor tensions, voltage drop, and flicker calculations.
  • Review work submitted by other engineers for client approval.
  • Provide engineering support during construction and conduct post-construction reviews to ensure compliance with engineering and construction standards.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for outages and propose mitigations using engineering principles.
  • Follow Leidos and client safety requirements and quality expectations diligently.

What Makes You Stand Out (Qualifications):

  • At least 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from an ABET-accredited institution; additional relevant experience or certifications may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.
  • Familiarity with NESC Standards and tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, Bluebeam, or Adobe.
  • Experience with ESRI and GIS is a plus.
  • Proficient in distribution design tools like BOUD, Pole Foreman, Spida-Calc, or O-Calc.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to engage in both field and office work.
  • Ability to travel overnight (15-25% travel may be required).
  • Comfortable working in outdoor environments.
  • Possess a personal vehicle for work purposes.

Pay Range: $73,450.00 - $132,775.00

This pay range is a general guideline and not a guaranteed salary. Various factors, including specific job responsibilities, education, experience, and market alignment, are considered in extending offers.
