Salary Range: $21.00 - $25.00 Hourly

Shift differential: $3.00 (eligibility)

Primary Job Responsibilities

Safety

  • Maintain a safe work environment for employees and customers by prioritizing safety
  • Keep gas pumps, lot, and store areas clean and free of debris
  • Work with Safety Team and conduct monthly mandatory meetings and trainings
  • Report safety incidents promptly and comply with safety policies and processes

Leadership and Personnel Management

  • Train, develop, guide and evaluate employees to operate the store effectively and safely to provide superior customer service
  • Maintain a professional and supportive image among subordinates and supervisors
  • As back-up to Store Managers, prepare and submit employee paperwork accurately and timely (e.g., performance appraisals, notices, new hire checklists)
  • Ensure ongoing on-the-job and required training to improve customer service and safety awareness
  • Motivate, provide feedback and recognize employees to improve performance
  • As back-up to Store Manager, address employee performance and violation issues
  • Set and communicate performance expectations and evaluate performance accordingly as an extension of the Store Manager
  • Develop potential employees through coaching and training for promotion readiness
  • Carry out all company policies

Customer Service and Site Relationships

  • Provide prompt and courteous customer service; assist customers at the gas pump and resolve issues
  • Accurately ring up sales on POS system; comply with cash handling procedures and other payment types
  • Develop positive relationships with customers, vendors and contractors
  • Manage cash, monies, and inventory during shift
  • Ensure the store is clean, stocked, and organized for fast, convenient service
  • Maintain a friendly, welcoming store environment and a buying experience that meets customer expectations
  • Monitor customer needs and promote programs and suggestive selling
  • Assist customers at the pump and in-store to locate products
  • Solicit customer feedback through regular interaction
  • Resolve complaints promptly to the satisfaction of customers, vendors, and contractors
  • Promote a safe, positive public image within the community
  • Promote Kama'aina Rewards program

Business and Management

  • Plan and manage store activities to maximize operating profit
  • Monitor fuel sales volume and competitor pricing to aid pricing strategies
  • Monitor merchandise, food movement, and competitor offerings to guide product mix and pricing
  • Maintain store layout and displays per schematics
  • Execute store-level promotions and support network-wide campaigns
  • Manage fuel, merchandise, and food inventory for optimal stocking
  • Control operating expenses, including maintenance, utilities, supplies, and inventory loss
  • Prepare and submit daily sales reports accurately and timely
  • Safeguard and account for all money received and disbursed
  • Organize and maintain site files and manuals
  • Receive merchandise with proper check-in procedures
  • Obtain and maintain required food and age-restricted product certifications within 2 weeks of employment

Facilities Management

  • Assist in maintaining appearance standards of paving, lighting, canopy, and other structures
  • Report facility issues as needed
  • Ensure facilities and equipment are in safe working order
  • Maintain dispensing and store equipment for clean, sanitary, and safe conditions
  • Ensure required signage/decals are posted

Personnel Assistance

  • Maintain a professional and supportive image among subordinates and supervisor
  • Work with Store Manager to foster teamwork and provide training assistance to new associates
  • Assist with staffing and scheduling to meet customer demand within budget

Qualifications

To meet the basic qualifications for this role you will be at least 21 years of age or older and have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without visa sponsorship.

  • Valid driver's license required
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Experience in retail sales and handling cash required
  • Perform basic math accurately
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
