Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees and up to one calendar year for part-time employees.

Other Conditions: Federal funds, temporary to 09/30/2026, pending satisfactory job performance, pending availability of funds and actual staffing requirements, to begin approximately January 2026. Assignments may include day, evening, and or weekend, on- and off-campus.
Description of Duties:
* Under general supervision of the Coordinator for Leeward CC's Kipuka Native Hawaiian Center at Pu?uloa, assists with essential administrative and operational student support to facilitate the effective implementation of program and services offered by the Native Hawaiian Center at Pu?uloa including grant activities and student services.
* Facilitates access to Native Hawaiian Center at Pu?uloa resources and services on a daily on site basis.
* Assists in preparing materials and coordinating logistics for student support activities and programming for students in recognized Kipuka programs and targeted degree programs.
* Assists with the logistics for program and outreach events, including room setup, material preparation and post-event breakdown.
* Accurately enters, maintains and organizes data within established databases and record-keeping systems related to support services, participants served and grant requirements.
* Assists in compiling information and data for reports and presentations as directed.
* Provides general administrative and clerical support for grant activities, including preparing documentation and assisting with information gathering for procurement procedures and grant reporting processes.
* Supports the mission of the Native Hawaiian Center at Pu?uloa by helping to incorporate established Hawaiian traditions and practices into daily activities and special events.
* Supports unit programs and events on campus and off campus, as needed.
* Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Arts & Humanities, Business, Education or related field and 0 years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for providing student support services and information; or equivalent education/training or experience.
* Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in student support services or the onboarding process demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
* Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with student support services.
* Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in providing student support.
* Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
* Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organization, groups, team members and individuals.
* Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
* Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Native Hawaiian student groups.
* Willing to travel independently in a timely and efficient manner to various locations on Oahu.
Desired Qualifications:
* Experience working with diverse and/or disadvantaged student populations and their families in an educational setting.
* Knowledge of Hawaiian culture, language, history, community issues, or resources.
* Experience with organizing workshops and events for students, employees, and community.
