Position Overview:
The Security Camera/Security Technician will be responsible for helping to design, install, maintain, and troubleshoot security camera systems, including CCTV, IP cameras, and other surveillance technologies. This role requires hands-on experience in security camera installation, network configuration, and system integration, as well as an understanding of current security technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a passion for providing top-tier security solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and plan the layout of security camera systems for various environments, including residential, commercial, and industrial properties.
• Install and configure security cameras, including IP and analog systems, ensuring optimal placement and coverage.
• Set up and maintain digital video recording (DVR) and network video recording (NVR) systems, integrating with local or cloud-based storage solutions.
• Configure network settings and ensure secure remote access to security camera systems via mobile or desktop platforms.
• Perform regular maintenance, inspections, and updates to ensure all systems are functioning optimally.
• Troubleshoot and repair faulty security equipment, including cameras, power supplies, and networking issues.
• Integrate security cameras with other security systems such as access control, alarms, and building automation.
• Provide technical support and training to clients on the operation and management of security systems.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, including data privacy and security protocols.
• Stay updated on the latest security camera technologies and trends to recommend improvements to clients.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or technical certification in electronics, IT, related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 2+ years of experience in the installation and maintenance of security camera systems (CCTV, IP, NVR/DVR).
• Strong knowledge of security camera technologies, including IP cameras, analog systems, PTZ cameras, and wireless surveillance systems.
• Familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, PoE, VPN) and experience with network configuration and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in video management software (VMS) and related security software platforms.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and floor plans.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical clients.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to client sites as needed.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with integrated security solutions, including access control, intrusion detection, and alarm systems.
• Knowledge of video analytics and AI-driven security technologies.
• Understanding of security regulations, including GDPR, HIPAA, or industry-specific compliance standards.
• Certification from industry-recognized organizations such as ASIS, or NICET.
